What Data Sellers Can Access
Sellers receive limited customer and order-related information strictly where necessary for fulfilling orders and providing customer service.
This may include:
- customer name,
- shipping address,
- contact details (email or phone, where applicable),
- order details and purchased items,
- order notes related to delivery or fulfillment.
Sellers may access this data only through the Seller Dashboard and only for legitimate transaction-related purposes.
Permitted Use of Customer Data
Sellers may use customer data only to:
- fulfill and ship orders,
- communicate with customers regarding an order,
- resolve delivery issues, returns, or disputes,
- comply with legal or regulatory obligations related to the transaction.
Customer data must be handled responsibly, securely, and in accordance with applicable privacy laws and Marketplace Policies.
Prohibited Use of Customer Data
Sellers must not:
- use customer data for marketing or promotional purposes outside the Platform,
- add customers to mailing lists or marketing databases,
- sell, rent, share, or transfer customer data to third parties,
- contact customers for reasons unrelated to their order,
- retain customer data longer than necessary,
- create independent customer databases outside the Platform.
Any misuse of customer data may be considered a material breach and may result in enforcement actions, including payout holds, suspension, or termination, in accordance with Marketplace Policies.
Data Retention & Deletion
Sellers must delete or anonymize customer data once:
- the order has been completed,
- all return, refund, or dispute periods have expired,
- no legal or regulatory obligation requires retention.
If local law requires longer data retention, Sellers are responsible for ensuring lawful retention and secure storage of such data.
Platform Data Protection
MARKETLine360 implements reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect platform data, including:
- secure access controls,
- encryption where appropriate,
- monitoring for unauthorized access,
- fraud and abuse prevention systems.
While we take security seriously, no system can guarantee absolute protection. Sellers are expected to maintain their own security practices when accessing the Platform.
Seller Account Security Responsibilities
Sellers are responsible for:
- maintaining the confidentiality of login credentials,
- restricting access to authorized personnel only,
- immediately reporting any suspected unauthorized access,
- ensuring their devices and systems are secure.
MARKETLine360 is not responsible for losses resulting from compromised Seller credentials where such compromise is caused by Seller negligence or failure to follow security best practices.
Data Breaches & Security Incidents
If a Seller becomes aware of:
- a data breach,
- unauthorized access to customer data,
- loss or misuse of personal information,
the Seller must notify MARKETLine360 without undue delay and cooperate fully in investigation and remediation.
Failure to report or cooperate in addressing security incidents may result in enforcement actions.
Compliance With Privacy Laws
Sellers are responsible for complying with all applicable data protection and privacy laws, which may include, depending on the Seller’s location and activities:
- Canadian privacy laws,
- GDPR or equivalent international regulations,
- consumer protection and data security requirements.
MARKETLine360 does not provide legal advice. Sellers should consult their own legal advisors to determine applicable compliance obligations.
Monitoring & Enforcement
MARKETLine360 may:
- monitor Seller activity for compliance,
- investigate suspected data misuse or security violations,
- take enforcement actions, including warnings, restrictions, payout holds, suspension, or termination.
These measures are taken to protect customers, Sellers, and the integrity of the marketplace.
Best Practices for Data, Privacy & Security
To help protect customer data and maintain account security, Sellers should:
- use customer data only for order-related purposes
- avoid storing or exporting customer information
- keep login credentials secure and confidential
- monitor accounts for unusual or unauthorized activity
- communicate with Buyers through the Platform
- comply with all privacy and data protection requirements
Strong data practices help prevent violations, disputes, and account restrictions.
